Step by step

How to import

Importing cannabidiol-based products for personal use is permitted and regulated by ANVISA, Brazil’s health regulatory agency. There are three steps — and our team supports you through all of them.

  1. Step 1

    Medical consultation and prescription

First, see a licensed healthcare professional in Brazil to get a prescription (a simple, standard prescription). Only they can recommend the most suitable product and dose for each case.

    The prescription must include:

    • Patient’s full name
    • Product brand name
    • Dosage (how to use it)
    • Quantity needed
    • Length of treatment
    • Date, doctor’s full name, CRM (medical license) number and signature

Under ANVISA’s RDC 660/2022, the prescription is valid for 6 months.

  2. Step 2

    ANVISA Exceptional Import Authorization

Importing cannabis-derived products for personal use, with a medical prescription, is regulated by ANVISA’s RDC No. 660/2022. The request is made online, free of charge, through the GOV.BR portal. Follow these steps:

    1. Have a GOV.BR account

You need a GOV.BR login with a silver or gold security level. If you don’t have one yet, go to gov.br and click “Entrar” → “Crie sua conta” (Sign in → Create your account).

    2. Open the ANVISA service

Go to “Importação de Produtos de Cannabis para Uso Pessoal” (Import of Cannabis Products for Personal Use) or use the direct link to the service.

    3. Click “Solicitar” (Request) and fill in the form

      • Details of the patient and legal guardian (if any)
      • Details of the prescribing doctor
      • Product information (name, strength, manufacturer, country of origin, etc.)
      • PDF attachments: medical prescription and the patient’s ID (and the guardian’s, if needed)
  3. Step 3

    Order and delivery

Once the authorization is approved, just place your order: Mediport ships from the United States straight to your home.

As long as the authorization and prescription are valid, you can import the product as many times as your treatment requires.

Important information

  • ANVISA authorization is valid for 2 years.
  • You can import the product multiple times, as long as the authorization and prescription are valid.
